At the conclusion of the regular season of college football, a wave of bowl games was kicked off. On January 2, 2012, The Raymond James Stadium in Tampa welcomed the 3rd pick from both the SEC and the Big Ten for a match up in the Outback Bowl. The game resulted in a win for Michigan State over Georgia in triple overtime, for a final score of 33-30. The game, however, was preceded by a multi-day celebration at which Linking Events was proud to act as the liaison on behalf of Mercedes-Benz for the various activations, ranging from the gala dinner, parades and brunch.
December 30, 2011, the MetLife/Mercedes-Benz hosted Gridiron Gala was a prestigious, invitation-only affair that donned a fluorescent light display and entertainment for hours. The following morning began with the UnitedHealthcare Children’s New Year’s Eve Parade and a pep rally featuring 20 marching bands. Mercedes-Benz vehicles joined the parade, and Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn made an appearance with the sleek E-class cabriolet. Game day morning, the Outback Bowl Corporate Tent Village featured 5,000 Bowl sponsors, and Linking Events managed the tent for Mercedes-Benz. There was a private brunch and entertainment for this invitation-only event.
